Flooding In Your Home

Check Washer Hoses

I think it would be safe to say that no one wants to run the risk of flooding in their home. Many of us have heard stories from friends or family or know from personal experience that severe flooding can occur from a burst washing machine hose. This is particularly true for rubber hoses. If you can’t remember the last time you replaced the rubber hose on your washing machine – now is a good time to take action! The standard recommendation is to replace rubber hoses every 5 years. If they appear old and brittle or, have blisters or bulges, they should be replaced immediately. After replacing, check to ensure that all hose connections are tight and secure and there are no kinks. Choose a hose that is CSA approved. You also have the option of CSA approved flexible metallic hoses. However, even premium hoses will need to be replaced eventually.
